Porsche 917                                                                  D
Porsche zag een gat in de reglementen en bouwde een supercar met 4,5 liter motor in een serie van 25 stuks. Zo mocht de auto deelnemen aan het WK dat eigenlijk bedoeld was voor 3 liter prototypes... De tot dan toe oppermachtige Fords GT40 en de nieuwe 3 liters werden in één klap verwezen tot veldvulling. Helaas hebben deze machtige auto's maar kort gereden ...
Porsche saw a gap in the rules and built a sportscar with a 4,5 liter engine in a small series of 25 cars. The car was allowed to enter the worldchampionship that was meant for 3 liter prototypes. The succesful Ford GT40's and the new 3 liter proto's were blown away. Unfortunatly these beautyful cars haved only raced such a short period.
