2009 24 uur / hours Le Mans
Net als in 2008 stond de 24 uur van Le Mans volledig in het teken van de strijd tussen de diesel prototypes van Audi en Peugeot. Audi bracht de nieuwe R15 TDI aan de start, maar dat kon niet voorkomen dat de snellere Peugeots dit keer met het goud aan de hal gingen.
Just as in 2008 all eyes were on Audi and Peugeot that battled with their diesel prototypes. Audi entered the brand new R15 TDI, but that could not prevent that the faster Peugeots went on to win this year.

De Daytona Prototype bestaat sinds 2003 en is een klasse die door de Grand Am is opgezet. Grote gelijkheid in chassis, begrensde motoren van vooraanstaande fabrikanten en een verbod op exotische materialen zijn hierbij de uitgangspunten. Het resultaat zijn mooie spannende races.
The Daytona Prototypes exist since 2003 and designed by Grand Am. The cars are very equal in chassis, use engines from road cars and use no exotic materials. The racing is just great.

2009 FIA GT Series
2009 Was het laatste jaar onder de oude GT reglementen. In 2010 zou het kampioenscahp in een nieuwe vorm herleven. De Nissan GT-R en Ford GT40 waren de eerste auto's die al onder de nieuwe regels reden.
2009 Was the last year of the old GT1 rules. In 2010 a new concept would be launched. The Nissan GT-R and Ford GT40 competed but were already built according to the new rules.

2009 Dakar
Nadat Dakar in 2008 werd afgeblazen om veriligheidsredenen, werd de rallye dit jaar voor het eerst in Zuid-Amerika gereden. De naam Dakar bleef, net als de uitdaging, de duinen en rotsen.
The Dakar Raid was cancelled in 2008 because of safety reasons. In 2009 the raid was held in South America for the first time. The name Dakar remained, also the rocks and dunes and the challenge were there.
