Het succes van de Lola uit 2008, bracht Aston Martin er toe om de stap te maken naar een officieel fabrieksteam in de LMP1. Met de diesels van Peugeot en Audi in de strijd was de kans op succes natuurlijk nihil. Prodrive had de auto van vorig jaar enigszins aangepast, onder andere door een geheel andere frontpartij te monteren. Toch was dit voor de ACO onvoldoende om de auto opnieuw te homologeren als Aston Martin, het bleef dus een Lola. Het schaalmodel is de presentatieversie, de uiteindelijke raceversie zou gereden worden door Primat (die de auto uit de race crashte), Hall en de op het laatste moment opgeroepen Kox. De #007 was de beste Aston aan de finish met een vierde plaats, eerste niet-diesel.
After the succes of last year's Charouz Lola, Aston Martin entered LMP1 with a complete factory team. However it was slightly different from the 2008 version, the ACO refused to homologate it as an Aston Martin, so it officially remained a Lola. They had no chance against the diesels from Peugeot and Audi, but the best AM finished 4th, best of the rest. The scalemodel is the slightly different presentation version.
