Dochtermerk Bentley keerde terug naar Le Mans, ook met Audi techniek. Ra ra, welk merk de race domineerde ... Audi came to Le Mans with 2 cars. The one year old R8R's were offered to selected teams. Bentley returned to Le Mans using Audi technology. Guess which brand dominated the race this year ...

2001 24 uur / hours Daytona
		De Grand American Sports Car Series gebruikte een ander reglement dan bijvoorbeeld in de FIA of Le Mans Series. De Amerikaanse prototypes waren minder snel dan in Europa. Gevolg was dat de race gewonnen werd door een Corvette, voor enkele Porsches en nog een Corvette. The Grand American Sports Car Series used another set of rules than that of the FIA Sports Car Challenge or Le Mans Series. The protoypes were not as fast as in Europa, so Daytona was won by GT's: A Corvette in front of some Porsches and another Corvette.
