1983 24 uur / hours Le Mans
		In 1983 beschikten Porsche's klantenteams ook over het wonderwapen de 956. De fabrieksauto's waren echter de sterkste. De eerste twee plaatsen waren voor de Rothmans Porsches, de winnaars van 1982, Ickx en Bell werden dit jaar tweede maar wel in dezelfde ronde als hun winnende teamgenoten. De winnende auto had overigens ook z'n problemen: de motor had schade opgelopen en de auto kwam zwaar rokend over de finish, maar wel als eerste! The customerteams had the wondercar, the 956 also this year, but the factory cars remained the strongest. The #3 car suffered from engine damage and won the race just in front of last year´s winners Jacky Ickx and Derek Bell.

		De Porsche 956 was de eerste auto van het merk dat over een monocoque chassis en groundeffect beschikte.
