1978 24 uur / hours Le Mans
		Renault had wat goed te maken na het verlies van vorig jaar. Maar ook Porsche was goed voorbereid met nieuwe 936's en de Moby Dick 935. Het werd een interessante race die uiteindelijk de winst zou brengen voor de Fransen. Renault wanted to make up for last year´s loss. Porsche was also preperad well with new 936´s and the mighty 935 Moby Dick. Despite that, the French were the winner this year.

1978 Overige races / other races
		Het wereldkampioenschap sportscars stond op een laag pitje door de afwezigheid van grote merken. De meeste aandacht ging uit naar de GT's. Dezelfde auto's die ook in het IMSA GTX en het duitse DRM reden. The worldchampionship sportscars wasn't much. The GT championship got most attention, because the the cars that participated were the same as in popular series such as IMSA and DRM.

1978 DRM / German Championship
		Met de introductie van de groep 5 categorie, werd het WK en het DRM nieuw leven ingeblazen. In het DRM werden twee races gereden: Divisie I met de dikke Porsche turbo's en Divisie II tot twee liter, met vooral BMW 320's met en zonder turbo en Ford Escorts en de nieuwe spectaculaire Capri turbo. With the group 5 rules the German Championship became even more attractive. Two races were held: Division I for the big GT's such as Porsche turbo and Division II with lots of BMW's and Fords.
