1976 24 uur / hours Le Mans
		Na de flauwe zuinigheidswedstijd in 1975, waar eigenlijk geen grote fabrikanten aan de start stonden was 1976 een verademing. Een nieuw tijdperk waarin Porsche en Renault elkaar gingen bevechten met turbo aangedreven auto's. Een titanengevecht dat 3 jaar zou duren, en de start werd gegeven in 1976. De Renaults waren snel maar erg fragiel, waardoor Porsche kon domineren. The 1975 race was kind of economy run where no factory cars were present. 1976 Was the start of a new era in which Porsche and Renault would fight with turbocharged cars. A battle that would go on for 3 years and started in 1976! This first year Porsche would dominate, because the Renault were quick but far too fragile.

1976 300 km Nürburgring
		In 1976 waren er 2 wereldkampioenschappen, één voor de Groep 5 GT's en één voor de Groep 6 sportcars. De 300km race op de Nürburgring telde mee voor de sportscars, maar er reden buiten mededinging veel GT's mee. In 1976 there were separate championships for GT's and proto's. The 300km race counted for the prototype championship, but a lot of GT's also competed.

		1976 Telde twee wereldkampioenschappen, één voor GT's en één voor sportscars. Dez laatste werd gedomineerd door de nieuwe Porsche 936. In 1976 two worldchampionships were held: one for GT's and one for sportscars. The last one was dominated by Porsche's new 936.

1976 DRM / German Championship & IMSA
		Het Duitse Rennsport Meisterschaft werd in 1976 nog uitgevochten met groep 2 toerwagens en groep 4 GT's. In de klasse tot 2-liter heersten de supersnelle Zakspeed Escorts en in de grote Divisie I waren het de Porsche 934's met hun sterke turbomotoren. The German Championship was contended in 1976 by the Groep2 touring cars and Group 4 GT's. In the division II upto 2-liter the Zakspeed Escorts reigned, in the bigger class it were the powerful turbo Porsche 934's.

1976 Giro d'Italia
		De Giro d'Italia was een combinatie van races en rallye klassementproeven, waarmee in korte tijd een groot deel van het land werd afgelegd. Lancia heerste in 1976 en 1977 met de bijzondere turboversie van de Stratos in deze discipline. The Giro d'Italia was een combination of races and rallye stages accros the country. Lancia reigned here with their Stratos turbo in 1976 and 1977.

1976 presentation cars
		Slechts enkele jaren na het debuut van de eerste turbo Porsche 911 (de 930) als prototype was de auto als straatversie leverbaar. De Porsche 934 werd de opvolger van de RSR in groep 4. Only 2 years after the debute of a turbocharged 911 (also known as 930) on the racetracks, the car was available for road use and homologated for Group 4 and 5 racing.
